Copyright & Trademark
The Air Force Services Center Office (AFSVC) of Strategic Marketing recognize and respect intellectual property rights and are committed to fulfilling our moral and legal obligations with respect to our use of copyright protected works.
Copyright of all content comprising or contained within AF-NAFI digital engagement platforms and websites remains with the AFSVC and other copyright owners as specified. As a matter of moral integrity and adherence to copyright law, AFSVC sets forth the following policies for all employees and authorized patrons:
Users of AF-NAFI digital engagement platforms and websites are prohibited to reproduce any copyrighted work in print, video or digital form in violation of the law. Works are considered protected even if they are not registered with the U.S. Copyright Office or any registering agency outside the U.S. and even if they do not carry the copyright symbol (©).
Copyrighted works include but are not limited to printed articles from publications, electronic articles in online publications, online videos, movies, TV and radio programs, recorded music performances, images, training materials, manuals, documentation, software programs, databases, websites and blogs.
In general, the laws that apply to printed materials also apply to visual and digital formats such as websites, streaming media, music downloads, mobile apps, CDs and DVDs. Employees may copy and internally distribute copyright-protected works as often as needed.
The AFSVC Office of Strategic Marketing expects its authorized patrons and employees to be responsible consumers of copyrighted materials. We also encourage authorized patrons and employees to educate their peers on copyright compliance. If any authorized patron or employee witnesses a potential copyright infringement, please bring the matter to the attention of the individual as well as to AFSVC Office of Strategic Marketing.
Trademark
The U.S. Air Force Symbol is a registered trademark. Permission to use them for commercial use, in marketing materials, in advertisement (free or paid), or by any non-federal organization/activity, including non-profit organizations, is required.
The use of these trademarks for commercial purposes, including reproduction on merchandise is prohibited unless the producer completed a license agreement with the Air Force.
DoD and Air Force policy and regulations prohibit use of office Air Force markings, insignia, and symbols in ways that imply endorsement of commercial or non-federal entity or activity. (see CFR Part 2635.702 and the DoD Joint Ethics Regulation, DoD 5500.7-R). This applies to all Air Force markings and symbols, including the Air Force Symbol.
Terms of Service (ToS):
Internet- based Capability (IbC) providers require acceptance of Terms of Service agreements before activating accounts. These ToS are often inappropriate for acceptance for official use by Department of Defense (DoD) employees and other authorized users.
Therefore, the DoD only agrees to ToS that have been reviewed, modified if necessary, and approved for DoD-wide application by the DoD Chief Information Office (CIO). Review Digital.Gov ToS for DoD usage.
