Hanscom’s Patriot Honor Guard
Hanscom’s Patriot Honor Guard provides funeral honor services in New England and Northeastern New York for active duty, retirees, and veterans who served honorably in the United States Air Force. The Honor Guard also participates in several community and base-related events.

Requests for Funeral Honors
Upon a family’s request, Public Law 106-65 requires that every eligible veteran receive a military funeral honors ceremony, to include folding and presentation of the the United States burial flag and musical playing of Taps. Flags are not provided. Burial flags can be arranged with a funeral home or by submitting Form DD214 to a local Post Office or Veterans Affairs regional office.
Due to the high volume of Funeral Honors, please email the Funeral Honors Request Form at least 4 days (96 hours) in advance for scheduling purposes.
Eligibility Requirements
- Military members on active duty or in the Selected Reserve
- Former military members who served on active duty and departed under conditions other than dishonorable
- Former military members who completed at least one term of enlistment or period of initial obligated service in the Selected Reserve and departed under conditions other than dishonorable
- Former military members discharged from the Selected Reserve due to a disability incurred or aggravated in the line of duty.
